Our Story

A filigree house since 1931.

D.A.R JEWELLERY was founded in 1931 by Shri D.A. Ramachandra Chettiar at 551 Vysial Street, Coimbatore — a city already alive with trading families and their love of fine gold.

Every wire drawn by hand. Every motif designed before a single gram of gold is touched. That is the D.A.R promise, unchanged in 95 years.

The house has been synonymous with Filigree, Meenakari enamel, Polki diamonds and antique gold — jewellery that carries the weight of heritage and the lightness of exceptional craft.

Shri D.A. Ramachandra Chettiar opens the house at 551 Vysial Street — a commitment to handcrafted filigree and original South Indian design.

The house masters Meenakari & Polki
D.A.R becomes renowned across Tamil Nadu for Mughal-tradition Meenakari enamel and Polki uncut diamonds — pieces commissioned by families from Coimbatore to Chennai.

The Atelier

Every piece begins
with a length of wire.

Our karigars pull gold wire thinner than a strand of silk, then coil and solder it into patterns from 95 years of D.A.R pattern books. No machine touches a filigree piece. That is the rule.
